Project Loon in Hurricane hit Puerto Rico

About 100,000 peoplePuerto Riconow have internet services thanks to the Google balloonsHBAL199 and HBAL237 that fly over the devastated country.

The Federal Communications Commission had authorised the balloons after many areas are without communications.

Project Loon has been providing internet services with the help of high altitude helium filled balloons at around 20 kilometres above Earth.

The balloons rely on a solar power and can only provide services only during daytime. Many other communication providers including Amateur Radio are also helping with communications.
