Big radio telescope makes discovery

China's 500 metre Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) has found a pair of pulsars thousands of light years away. It had to wait until the discovery was confirmed by the Parks telescope in New South Wales.

tThe giant Chinese facility had become a tourist attraction rivalling the Great Wall of China. It will continue to be popular and a sense of national pride, with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation to have a record 30 launches this year, and a goal of landing on Mars by 2020.
